As the first signs of spring appear, we are thinking about the beauty of the changing seasons and the many lovely flowers that fill the shop throughout the year. Even before spring officially arrives, we are excited for the flowers that are starting to emerge and bloom.
Flower Care
Flowers bring a true touch of joy to any space and a little attention goes a long way in keeping them vibrant. With a few thoughtful choices and some simple care, your blooms can thrive during their vase life.
Care Notes:
When transferring a bouquet into a vase, leave the tie on to maintain the bouquet’s structure, and gently spread the stems at the base so they stand naturally while keeping the design intact. Before placing them in water, give the stems a fresh, angled cut.
Keep flowers away from direct sunlight and heat sources to help them last longer.
Refresh the water every other day and remove any spent stems to keep the rest looking their best.
Anytime your flowers have been out of water, give the stems a fresh cut before returning them to the vase. This helps them continue to drink and stay hydrated.
Design Notes
When arranging flowers, we love to start with an intentional moment to appreciate the unique features of each stem. Some have striking focal blooms, while others have interesting colour patterns, playful curves, or unexpected textures. Considering these qualities helps create contrast, movement, and visual interest in a bouquet.
Even small adjustments, such as shifting heights, spacing stems differently, or grouping colours, can make a bouquet feel entirely new. Don’t be afraid to add a little surprise. An unexpected stem, an eye-catching twist, or a hint of texture can bring a bouquet to life and give it personality. We encourage you to be creative and experiment with different combinations, shapes, and textures as you arrange your blooms.
